My name is Peyton, a full-time anthropologist and part-time traditional illustrator based in Oxfordshire, UK. I have been sketching and painting all manner of beasties since I was a small child and... well... I never stopped!

I consider myself self-taught, though I have had my fair share of sources of inspiration over the years, such as the iconic works of Alphonse Mucha, scientific illustrations, the ink drawings of Albrecht Durer, and the immersive feel of Japanese ukiyo-e.

It took a long time to finally begin listening to people's suggestions that I try selling my artwork, but now... here we are! With the support of my partner, we started Strangely Natural in 2024, officially launching an online shop that same summer thanks to a positive reception at local markets and illustration fairs.

Strangely Natural celebrates the natural world in all its wondrous flora and fauna while also adding nods to the fantastical and magical. We pair vibrantly coloured scenes of charismatic and stylised animals with detailed gothic-inspired ink work featuring creatures from fantasy, folklore and myth. As a small independent art business, Strangely Natural places a focus on original artwork with a unique perspective, panning over imaginative landscapes of abandoned dragon skeletons and zooming in on intricate signs of life and afterlife. Odes to vintage woodblock illustration and splashes of fan art remain true to the artist's signature heartfelt style--unashamedly offering a peek into a creative hearth that never burns out.

Our emphasis is on premium prints, printed on heavy cotton paper and packaged carefully for safe transit or storage. Since our founding, we have expanded our goods into bookmarks, postcards, greeting cards, stickers, pins, keychains, and accessories. Zines, comics, and other high-quality products are also in the works to debut in the second half of 2026.
